Forgiveness Is a Position Of Victory and Leadership - Part One
To forgive is often seen as putting yourself into a position of defeat.
Unforgiveness is often seen as the payback for an offence committed.
God says that we are to be the head and not the tail - Deut 28:13 Head and not the tail, above and not beneath.
If we forgive then are we positioning ourselves above and at the head of our circumstances during conflict?
- Jesus was scourged beyond recognition. Offence – we are offended which brings pain.
- Jesus does not defend Himself. We turn the other cheek.
- This looks like a defeat as the offender has the upper hand?
- Jesus remains in command as He is able to save Himself from man’s offence but chooses not to...
- He also does not retaliate.
- He has a greater enemy… the power of the sin of man.
- Satan tries to beat Him into submission but Jesus responds by allowing all this to continue.
- We may experience the pain of the offence however we have been given the power withstand the offence ( 'For we have not been given a spirit of fear but of power love and sound mind.' 2 Tim 1:7)
- So we have no need to retaliate by offending in return.
